For decades, we’ve worked with independent tea shops, wholesalers, and packers across the UK, Continental Europe, and global markets offering flexibility, experience, and a personal approach to premium tea supply.

What we do

We import direct from origin and store a wide range of teas and botanicals in our Lincolnshire warehouse, from mainstream types, to fine and rare teas.

We pride ourselves on offering both classic and speciality teas: premium or mainstream, flavoured, herbal, and fruit blends. Our long-term goal is to help more people explore the rich, diverse world of tea, as well as facilitating exploration of up and coming, non-traditional tea origins.

Whether you need a single kilo or a container-load, we’re set up to deliver flexibly. Choose from straight-line teas, our ready-made blends, or let us create a custom recipe to suit your customers, including tailoring to local water profiles.

We’re strictly business-to-business, so we never sell direct to the public and we’ll never compete with our clients.

Custom Blends, Created for You & Your Guests

We have built up an unparalleled set of deep and enduring connections with tea producers around the world, in China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Malawi. We can tap into this network to develop products and blends in support of our clients. Examples include bespoke vacuum-packed English Breakfast and Afternoon blends for London hotels and clubs, or fitting blends to regional water quality in a variety of markets.

Fine Tea Merchants Ltd. was founded by Will Battle, a tea industry specialist with almost 30 years of global experience.

Having worked in the UK, Switzerland, and the Netherlands and spent extensive time in tea-producing regions across Asia and Africa. Will set up FTM to offer a more personal, flexible, and quality-driven approach to tea supply.

Over the years, he has visited hundreds of tea gardens, built strong relationships with growers, and developed a deep understanding of how to source and supply tea with care. His knowledge is distilled in the award-winning World Tea Encyclopedia, and he continues to serve as a judge for leading competitions such as The Leafies and the World Tea Expo Beverage Challenge.

Today, Fine Tea Merchants brings that same blend of global expertise and hands-on service to tea merchants, packers, and retailers across the UK, Europe and beyond.

Our solar-powered warehouse, office, and blending unit is the heart of Fine Tea Merchants. It’s here that our close-knit team of staff manage everything, from sourcing and blending to packing, quality control, and customer service.

Investing in staff training

We carry out an annual training needs analysis and have completed over 135 training courses to date, covering everything from food safety to specialist tea knowledge. Training and development are key to how we work, and we’re always looking to improve.
